Hello and Welcome!
In a week and a day, I am off to Cairo for four months of cycling down the African continent to Cape Town! I'm really excited about being able to share this experience with you, especially that of meeting the community where the bikes we raised funds for will find their home. That I promise to share with you in grand detail. As for the rest, we will have 22 rest days where I hope and am so excited to be able to share our global community with you and express what I'm sure will be overwhelming to my heart, but I can make no promises of consistency. On the plus side, the Tour d'Afrique will have a daily blog sharing some of our challenges and joys which can be found right here:

- The one thing I hold on to is listening to my heart and going with all my heart. Sometimes I have to listen very hard and only get a hint, but this time it was bold and clear and I trusted it. Carpe Diem! I am 20 years old. Grew up on Vancouver Island, the last two years in Ottawa where I studied sociology and fell in love with endurance sport, which gave me so much. By believing in yourself, you believe in others, by believing in others, you believe in yourself. As a rickshaw runner, I once pulled two bulky men up a long steep hill after they had told me they didn't think I could do it, and I was overcome with the realization that we are capable of more than we could ever imagine. I want to find out what we are capable of. All in all, I love developing my mind and my body, but I think, in the end, it's really all about discovering and bettering my character and giving it all back always and forever. I trust my heart, and I believe that this adventure will allow me to be more and give more. Although I can come up with many many reasons, I don't think I will really know why my heart has led me to Africa until I am there. I hope to share that with you on this blog.
